Departure

I'm going to Mozambique at the end of January in February in April on May 4th on May 8th on May 9th!

So, after so many false starts, I think I'm finally going to be able to take off today. I have all of my approvals, I have my visa, my passport, and my ticket reservations. I'm really hoping this doesn't become a groundhog day.

Yesterday was surreal as I waited for the FedEx to deliver my passport as it had been kept in DC until the last moment getting the visa from the Ghana Embassy.

When I sent my address to the passport agent he didn't notice the apartment number. Supposedly, when FedEx got here and didn't see where to go they left and sent a notice to the agent that I could get my passport the next day!

They sent the truck back out but it arrived too late to make it to my flight. After a lot of pacing and (I'll admit it) many tears, we admitted defeat and rescheduled the trip again.

Looking on the bright side of things David & I realized we didn't have to miss out on our Groupon to Red Bones after all! So we hopped in the car and took the long slow trip to Somerville. Apparently, we weren't the only ones... the hordes of coupon carrying carnivores created a waiting line of more than an hour. Sooooo we had a nice dinner at Diva.

I guess I should be thankful that I woke up at home on my birthday. If I have time, I may even treat myself to a cake in the Atlanta airport. In the meantime, I'm acting as though I'm going to take a trip today and I'm getting ready to go.
